Monday, November 7th, 2011

Any form of change can be daunting and it is all too easy to be complacent and adopt the attitude ‘Better the Devil you know’

But that Devil could cost you money and you could be receiving a better service and greater value for money.

  • Why put up with bad service?  You can make the choice to change.
  • Why do you feel you are managing your cleaning contract, when you pay for that service?
  • Feel fed up with coming in each morning and despairing at the standards?

If you were not receiving good service or value for money concerning your personal affairs – would you put up with it?  I suspect not.  You would want the best.

Clients sometimes worry about the change over of cleaning companies, but once you make that leap of faith, you WILL get a good service, Shipshape Cleaning are committed to this.

We guarantee a smooth transition in your cleaning services, and we have many satisfied clients whom we have worked with from the start and vastly improved their cleaning service.

Clients have said:

“Shipshape dealt very professionally and swiftly with the challenges we had with unproductive personnel, with out any involvement from me.  It was reassuring to see both the Contracts Manager and Site Supervisor on site every evening until these challenges were resolved.”

“From day one of the contract I felt I could rely on Shipshape Cleaning to resolve any issues and oversee the new team settling in.”

“I’d like to compliment the management team on the seamless transition at the beginning of the contract, and staff have noticed the increased levels of service and cleanliness.

“The staff are well trained and receive good supervision, the agreed specification is adhered to and other requests I make are carried out in a timely manner.”

Invite Nature into your Offices

Monday, September 5th, 2011

Did you know your workplace will benefit from having plants!

Not only do plants help clean the air in an office space, especially in these times when offices have no opening windows or even any windows at all.   Recent studies by Texas A&M University have shown that the presence of plants increases productivity and reduces stress. One of the quickest ways to achieve a happier, healthier and more productive work environment is to add nature in the form of plants.

Apart from the health benefits, plants can really enhance the look of your offices and reception area, especially in today’s modern offices.  New buildings although extremely modern and clean looking,  can look cold and austere, especially to a visitor or a newcomer.  Plants can soften the office environment and make it a more colourful and inviting place.

Invite nature into your offices and let Shipshape help you to create the ambiance with our unique range of displays to fit all requirements and budgets.

Looking after your Poinsettias & Christmas Tree

Monday, November 30th, 2009

This time of year we like to dress our homes with festive plants and of course the traditional Christmas Tree, the question is, after spending money on these, how do we prolong their life over the Christmas period?

Here are our tips for success:

Poinsettias

Watering – Examine the soil daily and when the surface is dry to the touch water the soil until it runs freely out the drainage holes in the container.  If a saucer is used, discard the water that collects in it.  Do not leave the plant standing in water.

Lighting – If you obtain a Poinsettia for your home place it near a sunny window where it will have the most available sunlight. Do not let any part of the plant touch the cold windowpane because this may injure it.

Temperature – To keep the plant in bloom, maintain it at a temperature at 10-20 degrees celsius during the daylight hours and if possible, move to a cooler place at night. Avoid exposing the plant to hot or cold drafts, as this may cause premature leaf drop.

Christmas Trees

1.  Ensure you buy a fresh tree.

2.  Once home, if you are not going to take the tree into your home immediately, place the tree in a cool, dry place out of the wind.  If possible place the tree in a bucket of water, so that the tree can drink water.

3.  Just before you take the Christmas Tree in the house, saw off the bottom 1 inch (3cm) of trunk. This creates a fresh cut and opens up the pores in the bark.

4.  Try not to expose your tree to sudden changes in temperature.

5.  Once inside the house, try to keep your Christmas Tree away from any heat sources such as radiators.  Heat will dry out your tree faster.

6.  Place your tree in plain water, not soil or sand which would block the pores in the bark.

7.  Keep the Christmas Tree stand topped up with water.  your Christmas Tree may drink 2-3 pints (1-2 litres) of water per day, depending on its size and your central heating settings.

Don’t forget if you work in an office, Shipshape can organise office plants and even Christmas Trees to brighten up your offices.  These will be visited monthly for maintenance to keep them in tip-top condition.
