The C word is for Cleaning – not Cuts!

Monday, October 5th, 2009

Cuts is a bit of a buzz word these days in the press with the labour government making cuts, cuts, cuts….

Cleaning is obviously an essential part of the facilities management in a building and when managed properly provides an essential service in the workplace.  Cleaning is essential to:

- Keep the building in tip top condition

- To provide a clean environment for employees to work in

- To give a good impression to visitors to the office

- To eliminate some H&S issues in the workplace

Cleaning services are very often scrutinized as part of the financial budget process and there is always a need to justify your cleaning expenditure.

At Shipshape we look at ensuring that throughout the contract you get an efficient service that is well managed and adds value to your business.

From initial contact, to the review of existing arrangements and tender, throught to the set up of the new site we aim to provide the best service for your budget.

We use an automated timecard system for all our cleaners to ensure that we are delivering the cleaning service you are paying for.

Our Area Manager reviews our sites regularly to deal with stock, training, inductions and working methods.

We employ experienced cleaners with a good working history and references to work in our teams.  We also value our staff and pay above the minimum wage and have incentive schemes in place to reward the hard work of our staff.

We use a variety of products to do the job, using the Microfibre cloth system, environmentally friendly cleaning products where possible and we always ensure that our teams have the products to clean a site and keep it clean and presentable.

If you need to review your site cleaning, check out our website:

What is E Coli and how can you prevent it?

Monday, September 21st, 2009

E Coli is very prominent in the news at the moment due to several cases in Surrey involving young children.

The BBC website has a page which explains the virus, how it is contracted and how to avoid it.  See below:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/83169.stm

To avoid the virus, hygiene is of paramount importance, in particular:

- Keep your hands clean to avoid faecal contamination

- Try to avoid touching your face with your hands unless they are clean

- Clean hard surfaces with a disinfectant regularly

We can provide a range of cleaning products for your workplace which actually prevent the E Coli virus.  This range includes:

- Disinfectant Wipes that are kind to skin and safe for the environment and a range of surfaces

- Disinfectant Handwash that is kind to your skin and keeps you protected from the virus when used regularly

- Anti-Microbial Cleanser either with no smell or a pleasant raspberry smell for your hard and soft surfaces

- Anti-Microbial Hand Rub for using in addition to washing your hands to provide protection from E Coli.

We can provide these products to you for any environment you wish to prevent the spread of the E Coli virus.  Contact us for more information at:

Free Cleaning Audit to Download

Friday, September 18th, 2009

During the redesign of our website, we added a document that we feel is a must for all conciencious Facilities Managers, Office Managers and key personnel who deal with cleaning contracts.

We have designed the form to enable you to review your current cleaning services whether you feel its just time for a review or you are looking to change cleaning contractors.  We feel it is a good starting point to look into the main parts of your cleaning service, i.e. Management of the Contract, Staff, Communication etc which are important in any contract.

The Audit Form asks you questions and you have room on the form to make notes on your findings.  We have also included on the form our Shipshape standards as a guide to what we do as a comparison.

Our audit form can be found by going to the homepage on our website.

Coming Soon…..Automatic Time Card System

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

We are implementing in the very near future a new automated system for monitoring and managing the working time of our employees.

We feel this new system will be a major asset in providing the cleaning service you deserve.

The Automatic Time Card System will work by employees using a freephone number (paid for by Shipshape Cleaning) to clock in and out at the beginning and end of their shift.

Watch this space for further details on how the system will work and the major benefits to our clients.
