There is probably not many companies that are not financially hit by the current economic downturn. Budgets are reviewed and service providers scrutinised for the service they provide and the cost at which they provide it.
One such service is cleaning. As an ‘invisible’ service to our clients, our work is mainly done in the evening, or sometimes early morning, when staff are not in the office. We provide a seamless service which is out of hours and managed in the evening and during the day by our experienced management team.
During these ‘cost cutting’ times, cleaning is not an ‘added expense’ that can be cut in order to reduce costs, but an essential service to ensure your work environment is clean and healthy.
If the workstations and equipment is kept clean and sanitised, the washrooms and kitchens are mopped and cleaned with the proper cleaning products, it is a scientific fact that staff are ill less often. This is a huge saving to the company as sick days cost employers millions each year.
So, don’t scrimp or cut down your cleaning services, as this will impact on your staff and their wellbeing.

Shipshape Cleaning are pleased to announce that they have once again achieved their accreditation with SAFEContractor.
It is an important accreditation to us and we invest a lot of time and money as a company ensuring our Health & Safety documentation is continuely reviewed and kept up to date with any new H&S practices or legislation.
We take H&S very seriously and ensure all staff are fully trained on H&S, they understand the H&S implications of the chemicals they use on a daily basis and inform us immediately of any posing H&S risk on our sites.
We are pleased with our achievement again this year, as we have been SAFEContractor accrediated for 3 years now.

Obviously when you think of cleaning you think about the chemicals being used to clean with but also cleaners should have a good supply of cloths, mops and buckets. These should be in good condition and colour coded depending on which area of the home or office is being cleaned.
When tendering for new cleaning contracts I still find it astounding these days to open a cleaners cupboard in an office to see only a couple of cloths that are being used to clean with. I think my comment to the prospective client was, if that cloth is for the toilets and that cloth is for the kitchen, what cloth are they using to clean your desk with??? Horrible thought I know but clearly cross-contamination has not been considered.
With a lot of sick bugs and cold bugs going around at the moment, cleaning and cleanliness really is of paramount importance and should be top of our agenda. And, as a cleaning company that promotes, trains on and colour codes its cleaning equipment it really is.
Athough not a legal requirement, we have, as a company, always followed the colour coding rules to the letter. We have separate coloured cloths and buckets & mops for the washrooms. These are used purely in the washroom and no where else. We have another colour for the kitchen cloth, mops & buckets, only to be used in there. Then we have another colour for the office desks only and a glass cloth for spot cleaning glass. We stick a laminated copy of our Colour Coding method onto the inside of the site cleaners cupboard as a reminder to our cleaning staff.
Cleaning is about keeping the area clean, dust-free and sanitary, and not cross-contaminating germs!
So, next time you look in your cleaner’s cupboard, see how many colours of cloths they have…..

Any form of change can be daunting and it is all too easy to be complacent and adopt the attitude ‘Better the Devil you know’
But that Devil could cost you money and you could be receiving a better service and greater value for money.
- Why put up with bad service? You can make the choice to change.
- Why do you feel you are managing your cleaning contract, when you pay for that service?
- Feel fed up with coming in each morning and despairing at the standards?
If you were not receiving good service or value for money concerning your personal affairs – would you put up with it? I suspect not. You would want the best.

Clients have said:
“Shipshape dealt very professionally and swiftly with the challenges we had with unproductive personnel, with out any involvement from me. It was reassuring to see both the Contracts Manager and Site Supervisor on site every evening until these challenges were resolved.”
“From day one of the contract I felt I could rely on Shipshape Cleaning to resolve any issues and oversee the new team settling in.”
“I’d like to compliment the management team on the seamless transition at the beginning of the contract, and staff have noticed the increased levels of service and cleanliness.
“The staff are well trained and receive good supervision, the agreed specification is adhered to and other requests I make are carried out in a timely manner.”
